These portraits are from the beginning of the pandemic when I was unable to see my friends in person. The windows kept us socially distant, but also showed my reflection, capturing us together in one frame during a time when we had to stay apart. I’ve always felt like there is more of the photographer’s presence in portraits than is easily apparent, so here I used my reflection to make what is normally implicit, explicit, equally showing my reflection with my camera outside the window and my subject inside their home blending together to create a portrait of us both.
